What genre would you consider your music to be?
Houston! my sound is very Houston mixed with pop, R&B, Hiphop aspects. I could even do a country song an it would still sound Houston. It’s Just a sound and culture that resides in me.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
A female rapper named Million Dollar Girl (my aunt). I grew up around music because of my mother always playing screw music, but once my aunt (Million Dollar Girl) recorded her first mixtape an I got a hold of it. That’s the day I remembered I wanted to be a rap artist. An I’ve been one ever since.
What are your biggest musical influences?
Lil, Kim, Trina, Mystikal, Pimp C, Fat Pat, Big Hawk, Andre 3000, Big Boi, Missy Elliot, it’s honestly so many artist that I am influenced by I can’t name them all. If you listen to my music you definitely here them.
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
Independent. I will only sign to a label if it makes sense too an it feels more like a family than a job.
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
The only challenges really are just getting my name out to the public. It can be very hard when everyone want to be rappers now an the person that’s really talented get looked pass because they aren’t being gimmicky an clout chasing. But my time is coming very soon. I can feel it.
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
My very first LP titled GUAPO came out on 2013 an I have a song with Megan Thee Stallion. Which is very dope an seeing her career sore and all the success she is getting has very much inspired me to keep going. But I have 4 albums out an a upcoming project dropping July 9th 2020 titled “Dior Me Please!”
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
“Dior Me Please!” Is very flamboyant and hard at the same time being a gay rapper I love that I can play with different sounds and create different personas. So that’s what you can expect from the new project Fun, Flamboyant, Houston, Hard & Grittyness.
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Just expect the unexpected, I will be definitely elevating the GUAPO brand aswell.
