Close to 15 years now

What genre would you consider your music to be?
Christian Soul

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I have been writing music since I was 8 years old. I have always really liked music.God gave me dreams of pursuing music but; it wasn’t until I started teaching, got comfortable and God reminded me of the gift! I have always been inspired by Earth, Wind and Fire, Evelyn Champagne King, Mahalia Jackson , George Frideric Handel, etc! I love different types of music so I try to incorporate that in the music I make. I don’t like to be in a box! I am versatile!

What are your biggest musical influences?
My hubby-Glenn GP Piper, myself, Mary Mary, Kirk Franklin, Cece Winans, Handel, Yolanda Adams, Ella Fitzgerald, El Debarge, Quincy Jones, LeCrae etc.

Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
I am an independent Artist who is co-owner of a label with my husband called “Bdm/Ugroove Music”.

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
The Biggest Challenges are staying relevant in a culture who seemed to only support Familiar Artists! Give other Artists a chance too. Everyone comes on the scene at Different times and the music industry is steady changing too!! Plus Most indie artists gotta build up their brand from a Grassroots approach since a lot of companies have folded and Digital Music Services are now heavy on the scene.

How many songs or albums have you released to date?
2 full albums, 1 EP ( released last year) , and 4 singles.

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
The Love/Soul Session Vol.1 my husband came up with the idea to release a full EP after we released the first single” Love Is A Beautiful Thing”, a song I wrote many years ago. I thought it was the perfect time to release it and from there it turn into a full EP.We incorporated spoken word on the intro of the EP from “Emoetry Speaks” to set the tone for the record. We then took another song I had written years ago entitled “In Time” and added it to the project, along with 2 songs my husband wrote “Better Days” and “Anything Is Possible”. To complete the EP I went back and remade a song from my first record entitled Single Lady Feat: Tyrik Tell that brings a modern Hiphop vibe to the project. All in all the project speaks of Love and Soul, that’s the vibe.

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Yes, a new Christmas single is coming soon as well as music from other Artists we produced! Stay tuned!
