Teezy Wonder, born Leonte (Leon-tay) Brandon hails from Jacksonville, Florida. (a.k.a. Duval) Teezy grew up on the city’s north west side, which is notorious for it’s murder rate. From the very first time he heard hip-hop music he fell in love with the craft. His early influences were LL Cool J, Rakim, 2 Live Crew, Too Short and his older brother Hollywood E.M.C. (Pensacola, Florida) He was just in the 6th grade the first time he took to the stage to showcase his talent in a local talent show and from that point on he began writing songs and continued to enter local talent shows. After graduating high school he continued his pursuit of his musical aspirations by linking up with friends from nearby neighborhood (Sherwood) and recording the cult classic “Sex, Drugs and Murder” which fared well locally and garnered him recognition for his lyrical prowess and unorthodox style of delivering his verses in the form of a story. However that momentum was short lived due to several run-ins with the law and a stint in federal prison. While in prison he made the acquaintance of a fellow inmate from Boston known as Solo-Flex whom he would have cyphers with and he also taught Teezy how to use the sequencer keyboard in the music room sparking Teezy’s interest in music production. Upon his release he discovered most of the crew and more importantly the producer he had worked with had moved to Atlanta to further pursue their career. It was at that point he decided to dive in to learning to produce for himself. Along that journey he developed a friendship with KB (Coby Douglas) whom was already a professional studio engineer at the time and is also the person Teezy credits with nurturing his production and engineering skills. As a result the two formed Track Team Productionz. Teezy describes his music as reality rap and takes pride in making songs based around issues that are relatable to most of the general population and are primarily based on his real life experiences.
