Max Bartos is best known for originating the role of Darren in Sing Street the musical both on and off Broadway. A self taught musician, he plays six instruments including both acoustic and electric guitar as well as piano, drums, bass, banjo, and mandolin. He is a verified artist on Spotify with several singles and a rock opera EP entitled Such is Life. His new single, Unspoken, is the first song from his upcoming EP Memento Mori which will be released on Friday, October 13, 2023. A frontman for several emo/pop punk bands, Max performs and tours consistently all over the East Coast.

How long have you been making music?
I’ve been making music professionally for about 3 years!!
What genre would you consider your music to be?
I consider my music to be “Romantic Alternative Punk”! People have said it’s like if My Chemical Romance and Duncan Sheik had a baby.
What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
Back in 2020 I was doing a show called Sing Street, and the cast was all Actor/Musicians. I was the youngest in the cast, so I was really learning a lot from my other cast members, and they were all making music and performing with bands, so they inspired me to do the same!
What are your biggest musical influences?
Definitely Gerard Way/My Chemical Romance is my biggest. The theatricality and overall passion in their music is something I’ve aspired to incorporate into my own music! Sonically i’m very inspired by the folk-rock instrumentation and lyricism of Duncan Sheik!
Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
I’m an independent artist!
What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
Definitely finding my voice. I found myself in the beginning of my music career trying to copy the sounds and vocal stylings of certain artists, but as I progressed and wrote more music, I found myself really finding my own!
How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I’ve released 2 singles (one in 2020, and one in 2023) and in October of 2021 I released my debut album! I’m releasing my new album in October of 2023, and released 2 more singles before that!
Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
Yeah! My most recent single “Unspoken”, was released in June and has already surpassed 70,000 streams! In a few days on August 11th I’m releasing my 2nd single called “Carry Me Home”!
Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
Yeah! My album is dropping Friday October 13th 2023, and I’m planning on releasing another single in September!
