My name is David Ray Smith, 34 years old, born and raised in Panama City, Florida. I graduated high school in 2005. I partied alot in high school and started having children at 19 years old. My past is a rocky long story so we can jump to 2017 when I really started to get it together. I began working hard to change my life and stay out of the streets. My children were with their grandma and I ended up getting full custody of them after battling DCF on 3 occasions. The kids are 14,13,12,11, and 10 with one boy in the middle. Tara and I met in 2008 and reunited in 2017. She has been loyal and true to not only me but the children every since. We married in May of 2019. My main source of income comes from construction work and side hustles like flipping cars. I love God and respect his creation and the path laid before me. Where it leads is not 100 percent clear to me just yet but I know that the struggles and pain and trauma I have been through is all working together for something amazing. My priorities are divine connection, family, work, money, music. My goal is to combine work money and music into one priority. The most important things in my life are my sobriety, my wife, and children. Every move I make in life must support those three things and music just does it for me.

Where are you based?
Panama City, Florida

How long have you been making music?
Over 15 years

What genre would you consider your music to be?
Hip-hop / Rap with some ambient trippy stuff on occasion

What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
It’s always been a dream of mine to be influential in society and music is the perfect outlet for me. I’ve always been a hard worker, good speaker, and people person in general and I have a story to tell the world. It would be the most amazing thing ever to be able to provide for my family through my passion.

What are your biggest musical influences?
Wow, this is a tough one because they are all important. Master P.,Mystical, Led Zeppelin, Lamb of God, Slim Shady, 3 6 Mafia, Goodie Mob, Lil Wayne, Kevin Gates, Lecrae, Young Jeezy, Byzantine, Megadeth, Chimera, TI, Jedi Mind Tricks. Tupac, Deuce Komrades. ALL OF THEM.

Are you signed to a label or are you an independent artist?
I am Independent at this time. Just sort of doing my own thing.

What have been the biggest challenges in your music career?
The most difficult part is funding of course. Being independent means that I pay for EVERYTHING out of pocket. The second thing is time with my family. I have full custody of 5 children and I am also married. I own and operate a construction business as well which provides for them and any thing beyond that typically goes into the children’s extra curricular activities and my music. That being said I wake up with headphones on, go to work full time, handle my own payroll, manage all projects on site, then after work I put the headphones on and they don’t come off, even during conversation, cooking, cleaning, the skating rink, bathroom, etc. Tara, my wife drives most of the time so I keep them on in car too. This is not hey let’s drop a hit and get rich. Music Consumes my every breath. I have to schedule down time for my kids and wife and it’s difficult to balance all facets of life but I just know in my heart and mind it will be worth it one day.

How many songs or albums have you released to date?
I have 4 Singles released on all streaming platforms and for purchase. I also have multiple songs that have not been monetized, some of these are on Soundcloud, Bandlab and the Rapfame app.

Can you tell us a few things about your latest release?
The last single LOL dropped today on Spotify and it was an collaboration with a member of our crew PullUpMuzik. He is 15 now and he went through a rough break up so when he sent me the track with just the hook I really felt his vibe and connected with his struggle because I often take heat from my wife and children about how much time I spend on music. It was a freestyle verse as well and it just came right out in truth and love. His verse is also free-flowing and although I would never run away from my family it just works with the dreamy trippy sound on the track.

Any plans for new music or upcoming projects we should know about?
I currently have 3 fully exclusive tracks in my producers hands I’m waiting patiently for these. VERY PATIENTLY. Our goal is to have a full album completed in the next 3 months. I have a stack of about 60 songs on paper and I write new content daily. This year I’m hoping to get 4 full length albums released.
